Non-Medical Air Outlets

    I m sad that Tri Tech no longer makes their non-medical air outlets.

    Its was great in Decontamination / Clean Rooms.

    To this point, I m also adamant on not using a medical air outlet or a support instrumentation air outlets in Decontamination / Clean Rooms.

    Does anyone have alternative ?

    What was the connection for a DISS? Did they use the DISS 2080" Instrument Air" or DISS 1160 "Medical Air"?  I have a similar question thread in the Codes and Standards Section.

    This will become a issue with the 2018 coed , medical air, non medical air, dental air, medical surgical vacuum, dental vacuum all needing different connectors.  OK  some manufacturer needs to step up and start manufacturing adaptors and inlet/outlets

    BeaconMedaes does offer Non-medical Air outlets on their lab side.


    If the facility has a true Instrument Air gas system, than I would use an Instrument Air Outlet, relabeled for the non-standard pressure.


    If the facility does not have a true Instrument Air gas system, than an alternative like a lab air turret with a hose barb is a good alternative.


    There is nothing that says that these air outlets points needs to be a wall outlet. I've seen many facilities with a threaded ball valve at the wall penetration, and the users thread in what ever adaptor they need for their application.

    IA Line Pressures ?

     

    OK, which now has us reading NFPA 99 2018 and new information for translation.

     

    Section #5.1.13.3.4.3 and 5.1.13.3.4.5:

     

    In my opinion the IA system, can be ANY line pressures the healthcare facility.

    IA (i.e. medical support gas)

    used for a surgical procedure.

    IA as alway been design as a direct replacement for nitrogen.  

    see table # 5.1.11

    and then read the changes in 2018

    it may not be as simple as / no requirement.

    I pipe my clean rooms with a separate air compressor and a ball valve as the "outlet"
