Anyone have any info on this. I am still researching, but one of our facilities was given direction per DNV to individually secure every H cylinder in their gas storage and manifold rooms.

All the sent me was this info (seems to be from a Q & A somewhere):

PE.5, SR5. States that “All compressed gas cylinders in service and in storage shall be individually-secured and located to prevent mechanical shock from falling or being knocked over.”  This is language from section 4 of the 1999 edition of NFPA 99.  Newer versions have since revised this to allow for proper group chaining of tanks.  Is DNV adhering to the older standard language or the language that has been in place since the 2005 edition of NFPA 99?

The PE.5 (SR.5) requirement is specific to the DNV GL accreditation requirements and may be considered by some to be more restrictive than current codes and regulations. In practice, our standard requirement allows a hospital to be in more continual compliance. When cylinders are secured together in groups, the act of un-securing them to move a cylinder often leaves the other cylinders unsecured for a period of time and subject to being knocked over. While this period of unsecured cylinders may be brief, it does still exist

    Right:

DNV provided a lecture at MGPHO serval years ago. ( we should ask them back )

In that talk the gentleman stated that individual securing medical gas cylinders was a requirement / rule of order for DNV and their customer base.

Many other states in the USA also require individual securing - Texas is one of them, I think California is another.

    Please Review NFPA 99 Section #1.4 ( 2012 and newer & older editions )
