    Storage

    5.1.3.3.4.1

Full or empty medical gas cylinders, when not connected, shall be stored in locations complying with 5.1.3.3.2 through 5.1.3.3.3 and should be in the same room or enclosures as their respected central supply systems.

Approved existing locations shall be permitted to be continued in service.

Suggestion: Remove last sentence (bold portion).

Reason: As it has been noted in a published document, this is unnecessary as 1.3.2.3 ("An existing system that is not in strict compliance...") already allows this to be continued in service.

5.1.3.3.4.1 differs from 1.3.2.3 though as it omits the stipulation "unless the authority having jurisdiction has determined..."

(As written, any existing previously approved location can be used, regardless of potentially hazardous conditions within the location, or so the facility might argue.)

Worth noting that "Approved" is listed in the NFPA official definition section reference 3.2.1:

    3.2.1 *  Approved.

Acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction.
